Can anyone hear my baby monitor?
May 20th, 2008 | By Webmaster | Category: ArticlesA baby monitor is essentially a radio transmitter on a fixed frequency that transmits a FM signal.

Baby monitors transmit in the 48-50 MHz range. Common baby monitor channels:
- 49.300
- 49.830
- 49.845
- 49.862.50
- 49.845
Basically yes a scanner can be tuned to listen into a baby monitor. But in all honesty the scanner user will not stay very long to listen to anything else other that the hissing of the baby monitor and baby snoring so no they will move to more interesting broadcastings. So provided the set up is not the other way round like the receiver in the parents room because then you will hear them snoring amongst other things.
We bought a “digital” baby monitor by Tommy which promises encryption so that nobody can eavesdrop on the signal. No idea if it actually works like that.
