There are plenty of programmes on the net for this or similar purposes, I've not done this in years and many programmes just want to back up my data or migrate to a new drive ~

Assuming you have all the installation disks, simply move the programmes to the other drive and run install again to the new folder and drive ~ it SHOULD *** offer to repair which SHOULD **** leave all settings and data in place. Some behave better than others.

Most programs doesn't usually use up much disk space. Instead of moving them, search for video, music or image files and think of moving them instead.

May seem strange, but why not just use your D drive as the main one when C fills up?

Also try programs like Ccleaner, sometimes that clears out GBytes for me.

I second what Gav has said about CCleaner but also this is briliant.

This is TFC : http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/TFC-Temp ... le187.html

NB **FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE EXACTLY**
Download TFC to your desktop

Open the file and close any other windows.
It will close all programs itself when run, make sure to let it run uninterrupted.
Click the Start button to begin the process. The program should not take long to finish its job
Once its finished it should reboot your machine, if not, do this yourself to ensure a complete clean

Also look for the temporary folders (or do your temp/ on the d: drive - simply right-click on My Computer, select Properties, then tab Advanced and environmental settings, look for TMP and TEMP and set them both to d:\temp (you might want to create the d:\temp folder before)) and clear them from time to time.

In windows folder you can get rid of these weird folders with names starting $NtUninstall - they are related to your updates and you do not really need them.

btw, these advices are mostly XP related (though should apply to vista/win7 as well)

Little OT (and not really my job) but a good advice would be to post something in the General forums ยป NEW MEMBERS INTRODUCTION section (and "Hi everyone" is the very post!) first.

(sorry for the OT :-) )
