As many will know the most recent skip event was rather a massive event. I've been growing increasingly disillusioned with the CBDX and was attributing my failure to my short enough piece of wire in the attic.

I also have a HF Realistic DX-394 which was rather quite too, was wondering if spending more money on better gear and paying someone to install outdoor antenna or wires would help and deciding I was in a poor area and it’d cost thousands ~ thousands I no longer have anyway, thanks recession ~ and along came skip.

Now I must say I missed most of it as I was busy, and with work in short supply I was really applying myself trying to nurse all whose precious shillings from the purse. But what a marvellous thing skip is. Scandinavia was booming in as if he was at the end of the driveway, Italy, Germany, Georgia, stations saying no Irish, no English, no division 29 p[lease ~ I thought it was a football team so I had to look it up!
My Realistic was speaking in tongues, it was fluent and clear ~ just when I thought I had bought another pup ~ along comes skip.
No wonder skip is the buzz word, it really is. Magnificent times. :) :) :)

Three cheers for the bit of wire, I have dx'ed into the States and UK of the magmount on the roof on 4 watts back in the old days when skip was so strong that you couldn't even talk 600meters down the road to the buddy.
Enjoy.

Haven't had a good tune about there for a while..,must give it a listen.
I remember about ten years ago parked on Bettystown beach with the DX394 in the car connected to a mag-mount CB antenna on the roof, hearing truckers in South Carolina as if they were two miles away.. 8)

[First ever post]
The very first time i got skip, was 10 years ago (was 17) and found i was talking to people from France. I never knew we could get certain "sunspot" days that would help with reception, it was new and puzzling lol.
