might it be a scanner generated 'image' of a strong signal on another frequency?

Have you another (not the same model) scanner and does this appear on those as well?

Frequencies / 445.910

Hi folks

By pure fluke after scanning 446MHz, I stumbled across a taxi company operating on 445.910.  Bit of an odd area of the band!  Anyway, they are most likely Dublin based and as usual, not very exciting to listen to.

I tried .9125 but it sounds off frequency so not the usual 12.5KHz steps found on 450 and upwards. .905 sounds ever so slightly down in signal strength.

The Blackrock Observatory has kindly offered space to hold a "HAM radio Workshop" as detailed on their webpage:

The North Cork Radio Group has a long standing relationship with the Blackrock Observatory, and has activated the castle many times in the past. Previous activations took place under the CASHOTA (Castles and Stately Homes on the Air), however that program is in decline the last couple of years. This planned activation is done under the World Castles Award, which is an active organisation promoting castles worldwide.

Promoting Amateur Radio is one of the founding principles of the North Cork Radio Group. This event is open for the public for those who would like to learn more about Amateur Radio, or even "have a go themselves".

The NCRG would like to see many of you there on the day, or on the air !
