Luas-Revenue Protection Officers
« on: December 30, 2017, 17:15:39 PM »
Dear All.
I was on the Luas in Dublin recently and noticed 3 Revenue Protection Officers board the Luas at one stop.

Who are these Officers?? Are they connected to the Luas System in some way?? I noticed each Officer had a Motorola Hand set.

Would they be operating on Tetra??

The Luas Security Officers, are their handsets on Tetra also?

Happy New Year.
Regards
Scatman.

Hi Scatman

Happy New Year

I wouldn't think there's a link between Luas and Revenue. Could've been simply availing of public transport. Revenue have comms on Tetra.

Luas rail security (stt.ie) were on DMR, but now use Tetra to communicate with Luas control.

Happy new to all .
Very much like Dublin bus id imagine Luas have a team of Revenue Protection Officers for fare dodgers.

Revenue are on tetra on the ndrs http://www.tetraireland.ie/case-studies/irish-revenue-commissioners

Luas have their own tetra system http://www.sigmawireless.com/LuasCaseStudy.aspx

Happy New Year to all on here also.. I'd really like to see this site get busy again, it can be a great resource.

Re LUAS Tetra... Any idea what freq range they are using ? I thought they would have been eventually piggy-backed somehow on the national network even though they were originally the first users of TETRA in Ireland (as far as I know).

Hi Hans

I too would like to see this site become as busy like it was a while back. I browse transmission1 (UK site) which is quite active from an amateur and scanning aspect.

Luas operates in the NDRS allocation of 380-390 MHz and were indeed the first group of users to use Tetra.

Great forward thinking in fairness given that Luas was launched in 2004

The Luas does NOT operate in the NDRS allocation... It operates in the Public Section of the UHF TETRA allocation

Ok, my mistake.  So just the emergency/governmentvoluntary services on NDRS?
